Many years ago, COPOCO was established as a cooperative organization, with members giving a little of their time to generate a sense of community and personal "investment." COPOCO depends on its members to operate: to hold social events; open, close, and maintain the tennis courts; do basic painting, staining, and landscaping; handle mailings and update our website; keep the facilities clean; and help with a wide variety of special projects. If we hired out all the work our costs would increase and so would the yearly dues.
Each membership (tennis and or pool) is asked to volunteer their time and expertise. Only one adult member of the household is required to do the work, though everyone is invited to participate! Requirements by membership level are as follows.
Participate in a Pool Prep evening in May or other pool prep activity (2 hours; waived in year 1 of membership); AND
Contribute 2 hours of additional volunteer time during the season. This can include participating in a spring or fall cleanup event. Additionally, a list of volunteer tasks is maintained and members can opt for one of these.
Contribute 2 hours of volunteer time during the season;
No additional pool prep requirement.
Volunteer work is encouraged but not required.
If a member family is unable to volunteer as above, the following fees are assessed. These help cover the hiring of outside contractors.
